Water Marbling + Cheetah Print + Studs

Agora uma notícia não tão boa: quebrei minha unha do dedo médio. L Então não estava muito afim de fazer uma nail art muito detalhada. Por isso escolhi um tema do desafio que estava me incomodando por um tempão: water marble. Na minha opinião, water marble é uma das técnicas de nail art mais difíceis. Sim, eu já tentei antes e nunca deu certo por várias razões: o esmalte não se espalhava pela água ou então secava muito rápido e eu não podia desenhar nada, ou seja... um verdadeiro desastre. MAS tinha que tentar mais uma vez e esse é o look final:

Now a not-so-great new: I broke my middle finger nail. L So I wasn't in mood to do really intricate designs for the challenge. Then I choose the theme that was getting into my nerves for a very long time: water marble. I think water marbling is one of the trickiest nail art techniques ever. Yes, I tried this before a few times and it never worked with me for so many reasons: the nail polish didn't spread on the water or it dry too fast and I couldn’t drag it, anyway… a real disaster. BUT I had to give it shot this time and this is the final result:

Comecei com duas camadas do Balé da Beauty Color e depois fiz o water marble nas unhas do incador e do dedo médio. Para combinar, fiz uma estampa de oncinha na anelar e no mindinho. Finalizei a manicure com três tachinhas no dedão. 

I started with Beauty Color Balé as my base coat and water marbled my index and middle fingers nails. To match also painted some cheetah print on my ring finger and my pinky nails. I finished the manicure with three studs on my thumbs.

Os esmaltes que usei na oncinha e no water marble foram Balé da Beauty Color, Marshmallow de Alfazema da Risqué, Grande Atração da Colorama e Lilás (que não é lilás) da Extravasa!. Para fazer a oncinha, primeiro fiz uns círculos irregulares com o pincel do próprio esmalte em roxo, laranja e rosa e depois fiz os contornos pretos com um pincel fino.

The nail polishes I used on the cheetah print and the water marble was Beauty Color Balé, Risqué Marshmallow de Alfazema, Colorama Grande Atração and Extravasa! Lilás.  To do the cheetahs I first did some irregular dots with the polish bottle brush with purple, orange and pink polishes and then did the black contours with a thin brush.

Minhas conclusões sobre minha tentativa no water marble:

• Gastei MUITO esmalte.

• Faz muita bagunça. Se prepare.

• Eu deveria ter criado mais "camadas", ou seja, deveria ter pingado mais gotas de esmalte para criar mais círculos.

• O desenho que fiz com o palitinho não ficou um dos melhores do mundo.

• E apesar de todos os pontos acima, eu amei o resultado, de verdade.

My final thoughts on my water marble attempt:

• I spent A LOT of nail polish.

• It does a big mess. Get ready.

• I should created more “layers”. I mean I should added more polish drops and created more circles.

• The design I did by dragging wasn’t the best of the world.

• Despite of all points above I really happy the result, love it actually.

E agora, algumas dicas:

• Encontre uma marca de esmaltes (ou alguns esmaltes específicos) que se espalhe bem na água e não seque MUITO rápido. Esmaltes mais fluídos foram os melhores para mim.

• Seria bom se essa marca não fosse muito cara porque se usa muito esmalte. Você não vai querer usar meio vidrinho do seu Chanel para isso (ou talvez queira, vai saber haha).

• Coloque fita adesiva ao redor da sua unha, cobrindo parte do dedo, o mais próximo possível da cutícula. Desse modo, você não vai ter que ficar limpando os dedos com acetona.

• As cores ficam mais transparentes na água, então se quer que elas se destaquem use esmalte branco como base.

• Assista a alguns vídeos tutoriais, como este, este e este.

And now some tips by my own experience:

• Find a polish brand that spreads well on the water and doesn’t dry TOO fast. Thin polishes worked best for me.
• It wouldn’t hurt if this polish brand isn’t too expensive because you’ll use a lot of nail polish. You don’t want use half bottle of your Chanel on this (or maybe you want, I don’t know).

• Put tape around your nails as close as your cuticles as you can. This way you won’t have to do clean up after water marbling.

• The colors get sheerer on the water so you want them to pop out use white as your base color.

• Watch some video tutorials, like these ones here, here and here.
